When Manifesting Takes Longer Than Your Timeline

Experiencing set backs in manifesting

I set out in January to manifest things I desire. I had aggressive timelines in mind and I was willing to put it out there and do the work. I was committed. I told myself I was releasing expectations.

Manifestation coaches will teach you that if you want something badly enough, it will happen. Other spiritual teachers will tell you that that is a racket and manifesting is a mix of learning to trust your intuition for the path you are meant to be on and to allow God and the universe to put what you desire or better in front of your path.

In the last two weeks, a number of those things I was working toward ended abruptly and outside of my control. The endings hit me hard. I was seeking to manifest them and they weren’t going to happen. Even worse, they all seemed to end at the same moment leaving me reeling.

What gives, Universe?

Allow and honor what you feel

I needed some time to process. I had strong intuitive hits that the timing was finally right and the universe was putting things into my path.

I felt let down and questioned my ability to hear my intuition.

I’m coming around to share that after a little time to process and some help from spiritual teachers and friends, I can now see that I was still putting my expectations on the timing.

I need to give the universe more time and recognize that I do not yet have all the pieces.

My beloved grandmother actually came through my spiritual teacher Julie Jancius, the Angel Medium, to tell me this message.

In essence, this isn’t the end, it is one step in the process.

"Keep your face always toward the sunshine and shadows will fall behind you." -Walt Whitman

I am a generally sunny person, literally and figuratively. When I get knocked down, I quickly get back up ready to try again.

But even optimists like me can be set back by what life throws at us, especially when a number of hits come at once.

When this happens to me, I need to allow the space to be sad or allow the feelings that come up for me. And then I need to look at what I do have.

This season of my life has brought about much to be grateful for and I have recognized my many blessings. The sunshine in my life.

It has also helped to illuminate the shadows and see the things I need to release or just allow to work through me in order to focus back on the sunshine.

I’ve learned it is important to allow. The more I fight or try to avoid something, the more it illuminates itself in front of me so I have to deal with it. We cannot run from the lessons we are meant to learn in this life.

Learn from the Sunflower

And yet the sunflower spends all of its time turning its face toward the sun. Rather than focusing on the shadows, might I benefit from turning my face toward the sun?

Instead of trying to stop or avoid the shadows, I realize now I must surrender. I must accept that the shadows are part of having the sun.

And through surrender, I accept that the shadows will come up for me. But if I keep my face toward the sunshine, allowing its rays to shine their light, the shadows will be there, but remain in my wake.

I hope my lesson helps you on your path.

Are you experiencing set backs in your path to manifesting? How might you turn your face toward the sun?
