How important is it to be grounded? Simply put, it is the basis on which any human spiritual endeavors should be built.
Think of being grounded the same way one builds a home - if you do not build a strong base, the house will not be strong enough to withstand the weight. A strong spiritual practice must also have a strong base and one of the simplest ways to do this is through a process called "grounding."
Grounding is a process of centering oneself, seeking to calm the mind, connect to one's body, connect to the ground/Earth/nature and connect to spirit/Heaven/God. It might sound complicated, but it is a process that with time feels not only natural, but necessary.
When I am out of sorts, I have come to realize how important it is for me to stop what I am doing and ground myself. Living in this world as a human wears on a person no matter how grounded one is. It is through a grounding practice that one is able to come back to a natural and connected state and tap more into what is real than what is perceived.
In my own practice, I have found a few ways to ground myself and I've shared them in this post about finding stillness.
After years of practice and many different teachers, I have found two grounding meditations that are my favorite. These are both available on free platforms so you should have no trouble accessing them.
These are two excellent teachers who I have learned life altering lessons from and you will see mentioned throughout this website, Julie Jancius and Atherton Drenth. Both of these teachers shared that someday grounding myself would feel instantaneous and I recall at the beginning thinking they were wrong and I could not easily get there. Yet, a few years of practice later, I can promise you this is true.
I recommend practicing every day. Even if you feel silly to start, try it and give yourself a ten minute break.

Note that Julie's podcasts are available across platforms so search for this in your favorite platform if it is not Apple or Spotify - Episode 3 Your Favorite Meditation.
I hope one of these help you achieve a feeling of grounding.
Journal prompt: Write down how you felt before the meditation. After completing the meditation, what did you feel during and after completion? Do this over time and see how it shifts.
